What happens during a scale and polish?

Multiple gum“pockets” can indicate advanced gum disease called periodontal disease.

Periodontal disease is not curable and can eventually lead to teeth loss, but this condition is treatable if regular dental hygiene appointments are set every 3-4 months. Patient cooperation is crucial, and a regimen of oral hygiene at home can have a fundamental impact on slowing the progress of gum disease.
