What are anti-wrinkle injections?
When you frown or smile, the muscles under your skin make folds that change your facial expression. As we age, these folds stay and become wrinkles. Our anti-wrinkle injections include a purified protein that temporarily relaxes these muscles and stops them from tightening, smoothing out wrinkles.

Anti-Wrinkle Injections: What To Expect
At your initial consultation, your practitioner will explain the procedure to you and discuss your goals to ensure anti-wrinkle injections are the best treatment option for you.
Anti-wrinkle injections are administered using a small needle and only take around 10 minutes. The injection can cause some minor discomfort, often described as a “pin prick” or a “sting”, which is over very quickly. Most patients are fine with this. However, you can apply a numbing cream prior to your appointment to help with this. During your initial consultation, your practitioner can advise you on the best cream to use and when to apply it.
After Your Treatment
Our anti-wrinkle treatments require minimal downtime or recovery. After your treatment, you can go about your normal routine immediately, which is why it is often called a “lunchtime procedure”.
You may notice a little redness and irritation at the injection site immediately after your treatment, which should fade within 6 hours.
If you are susceptible to bruising from injections, you may experience minor bruising at the injection site for a few days after treatment. This can be treated with over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medications, such as ibuprofen.
You will usually see an improvement in fine lines and wrinkles within 1-2 weeks after your treatment. For moderate to severe frown lines, you may begin to notice results 24 to 48 hours after your treatment.
The effects of anti-wrinkle injections usually last 3-4 months, so we recommend booking repeat treatments every 3-4 months to maintain the results. Over time, you may not need treatments as regularly as this, so we will work with you to come up with a customised schedule to repeat your anti-wrinkle injections to maintain a smoother look.
Are anti-wrinkle injections suitable for me?
Anti-wrinkle injections are popular with men and women of all ages, provided they are over the age of 18. However, these injections are not recommended if you are pregnant, actively trying to conceive or breastfeeding. They may also not be suitable for people with certain neurological diseases or muscle weakness.
If you have an infection at your intended treatment location, you will need to wait until the infection has completely cleared up before having any injectable treatments.
